Terminated ferrules are inserted into the expanded beam housing and secured in place via a spring and cover-plate. Ferrule alignment to the lenses is automatically achieved through the proprietary optical arrangement created and patented by Cinch-Fibreco. If the connector is damaged during use, the unique design of the Mil-Junior enables the expanded beam insert, connector front body, and grip ring to be replaced without the need to re-terminate the fibers. Typically, this can be completed within 30 minutes, even in field conditions.
