HMS Networks Anybus® Communicator Serial Gateways
HMS Networks Anybus® Communicator Serial Gateways enable existing devices to be connected to an industrial PLC control system without hardware changes or programming. The Anybus® Communicator Serial gateways exchange data between a serial sub-network and higher-level networks, including EtherCAT, PROFIBUS, ControlNet, Modbus-RTU, Modbus-TCP, PROFINET, PROFINET IRT, EtherNet/IP, DeviceNet, CC-Link, and CANopen. The gateways issue serial telegrams cyclically, based on changes of state or trigger events given by the control system in the higher-level network (i.e., the Fieldbus master or PLC).The Anybus Communicator Serial devices are for serial RS-232/422/485 devices using Modbus RTU/DF1/ASCII or any vendor-specific protocol. Utilizing the included Anybus Configuration Manager, all necessary configuration is performed without needing proprietary software.
Features
- For serial RS-232/422/485 devices using Modbus RTU/DF1/ASCII or any vendor specific protocol
- Retro-fit existing devices, can connect to any Fieldbus or Industrial Ethernet network
- Avoids hardware or software changes, all data/protocol conversion is made and mapped to the network from inside the Anybus Communicator
- Connect slow serial devices without affecting performance, internally stores and intelligently maps I/O data which de-couples the upper Fieldbus/Ethernet network and the slower serial/CAN sub-network
- Easily converts a device's serial/CAN protocol, no PLC function blocks or any programming is required
- Provides an inexpensive network connection, connect up to 31x nodes and supports RS-232, RS-422, or RS-485 physical standards
- Simplifies network infrastructures with an "in-chassis" alternative, mount the Anybus Communicator on a DIN rail close to the connected devices and free up PLC rack space and cabling
