Microchip Technology dsPIC33CH512MP508 Motor Control PIM
Microchip Technology dsPIC33CH512MP508 Motor Control Plug-In Module (PIM) demonstrates the capabilities of the dsPIC33CH512MP508 family of digital signal controllers. The dsPIC33CH512MP508 consists of Master and Slave Digital Signal Controller (DSC) cores that run independently at different device frequencies. This motor control PIM takes advantage of the high-resolution PWM peripheral in the Slave core of the device. The PWM enables motor control applications and other peripherals, such as the Analog-to-Digital Converter (ADC).The PIM can be inserted in the 100-pin PIM interface header provided on any compatible motor control development boards to demonstrate and develop motor control applications. This dsPIC33CH512MP508 PIM can run a single motor with all compatible design boards. The PIM operates on the dsPICDEM™ MCLV-2 board by inserting an external op-amp configuration matrix board on the J14 header present on the board. This PIM operates on the dsPICDEM MCHV-2/MCHV-3 boards by inserting an external op-amp configuration matrix board on the J4 header on the board.
The dsPIC33CH512MP508 PIM is also capable of driving a single motor using FOC through the inverter-B side of the low-voltage motor control development bundle. This PIM drives dual motors when using BLDC sensored or sensorless control on the inverter-A side. TThe PIM is used on the dsPICDEM MCHV-3 board to demonstrate single-stage boost Power Factor Correction (PFC) control with field-oriented-control on the Slave core. This is achieved by populating resistor jumpers (R2 and R4) provided on the PIM.
