Microchip Technology PCI11010C Single-Chip PCIe Switches

Microchip Technology PCI11010C Single-Chip PCIe Switches integrates an Ethernet MAC and programmable I/O. The Microchip PCI11010C features a PCIe physical interfaces that provide a 2‑lane (2×8GT/s) upstream port and a 1‑lane (1×8GT/s) downstream port, delivering up to 8GT/s to meet the growing demand for higher‑bandwidth PCIe subsystems in embedded applications. The upstream interface can operate over one or multiple lanes for architectural flexibility, and the device includes a fully compliant PCIe implementation spanning the external PHY interfaces, switch fabric, and endpoint controllers. Support for PCIe Precision Time Measurement (PTM), as defined in the PCI Express Base Specification R5.0 V1.0, enables precise timing information exchange between components, allowing systems to calculate the relationship between local device clocks and the shared PTM Master Time domain.

In addition to the switches' PCIe capabilities, the PCI11010C integrates an IEEE 802.3‑compliant 2.5Gbps Ethernet MAC. The RMII, RGMII, and SGMII interfaces support data rates of 10/100Mbps, 10/100/1000Mbps, and 1/2.5Gbps, respectively, enabling a wide range of Ethernet connectivity options. A programmable pin multiplexer allows designers to map I/O functions to package pins using either the default configuration or customized signal assignments tailored to the application. These functions include GPIO and SMBus signals, accessed through a dedicated PCIe Endpoint Controller. Although multiple internal clocks are required for device operation, they are generated within an integrated clock farm, allowing the Microchip PCI11010C to operate using only a single‑ended 25MHz external clock or crystal along with a PCIe reference clock. The device is supported by standard software abstractions compatible with major operating systems and is available in a 100‑pin VQFN package across commercial (0°C to +70°C), industrial (‑40°C to +85°C), automotive Grade 3 (‑40°C to +85°C), and automotive Grade 2 (‑40°C to +105°C) temperature ranges.
