Power Integrations CapZero™ ICs
Power Integrations CapZero™ ICs block current flow in the X capacitor safety discharge resistors when AC voltage is applied, reducing the power loss to less than 5mW, or essentially zero at 230VAC. CapZero ICs automatically discharge X capacitors through discharge resistors when AC is disconnected. They simplify EMI filter design, have only two terminals improving safety standards, have <4mm creepage on package and PCB. CapZero ICs are self-supplied, requiring no external bias, have high common-mode surge immunity, high differential surge withstand, and are EcoSmart®/energy-efficient. The ICs feature simplicity and ruggedness, which makes it an ideal choice in systems designed to meet ErP Lot 6 requirements. The CAPZero Reference Design Board (RDK-252) demonstration board employs the CAP014DG CAPZero IC and operates over a universal input range. This demo board for the CapZero family is designed and tested to operate with an ambient temperature environment of up to 105ºC.
