RECOM Power RVSY018 Synchronous Rectification Controller

RECOM Power RVSY018 Synchronous Rectification Controller is a high-performance, fast turn-off controller designed to support deep Continuous Conduction Mode (CCM) and Discontinuous Conduction Mode (DCM) operations. The RECOM Power RVSY018 operates at frequencies up to 700kHz, making the controller ideal for high-speed power conversion applications. Key functional parameters are programmable via external resistors, enabling flexible configuration and optimization tailored to the selected SR MOSFET's characteristics to improve overall system performance.

RVSY018 utilizes relative maximum-voltage detection technology to enable accurate SR MOSFET turn-on, effectively preventing false triggering caused by resonant negative voltages in DCM. The controller is also compatible with soft-switching topologies such as Quasi-Resonant (QR) and Active Clamp Flyback (ACF). An intelligent voltage-limited conduction feature dynamically reduces the gate drive voltage when the VDS drop is minimal. The reduced gate-drive voltage increases the MOSFET's internal resistance, preventing premature turn-off and minimizing conduction losses, enhancing overall efficiency.

The RECOM Power RVSY018 controller monitors the drain voltage of the SR MOSFET via the VD pin, which includes a built-in 100µA current source. The turn-off threshold is programmable via a resistor placed between the VD pin and the SR MOSFET's drain. Additionally, the VD-to-VDD path acts as a linear regulator with robust power delivery capability, typically eliminating the need for an external auxiliary winding. Specifically designed to withstand negative-voltage transients, the VD pin ensures stable internal circuit operation even under large negative VDS swings.
