TE Connectivity Timer Interconnection System

TE Connectivity's (TE) Timer Interconnect System features contacts used extensively in the automotive industry. Each contact of this TE series consists of a flat receptacle, which mates with a flat tab. The receptacle has two respective four contact springs, which are independent of each other. Two-piece contacts with a steel top spring are predominantly. This two-piece contact design means that the electrical and mechanical properties are separated. One end of the contact body is either crimped to wire or soldered to a printed circuit board. The other end of the contact body mates with the matching tab.

The contact body is responsible for the electrical characteristics while the top spring ensures that contact force is maintained under critical circumstances and over the lifetime of the contact system. Reduction in contact force due to stress relaxation at elevated temperature is thus minimized. In addition, there are usually two lances on the steel to spring. These serve to lock the contact securely into the housing. Secondary locking of the contact in the housing can be achieved by means of the steel top spring, which usually takes the form of a box.

All versions of Timer contacts can be combined easily in one connector without renouncing the secondary locking device.

Junior Power Timers

The Junior Power Timer series continues to add value to the popular Timer group of products. The Junior Timer Series is meant for unsealed applications, has a current-carrying capacity of up to 20A, and it has both 2.8mm x 0.8mm or 3.0mm x 0.8mm contact tabs. This series has a varied selection of housings with multiple positions.

Standard Power Timers

The Standard Power Timer series can be used in sealed or unsealed applications, has the ability to carry up to 40A, and offers multiple contact sizes. The Standard Power Timer contact is a flat contact with four independent contact springs and a steel cantilever spring which reinforces the contact force. The cantilever spring has two locking lances that help lock the contact in its housing

Maxi Power Timers

The Maxi Power Timer series offers an upgraded current carrying capacity and has a mating tab that is 9.5mm x 1.2mm. This series has the capability to carry up to 78A of power, it can be used in sealed or unsealed applications, and is plated with tin.
