Texas Instruments bq25887EVM Charger Evaluation Module (EVM)

Texas Instruments bq25887EVM Charger Evaluation Module (EVM) is a complete charger module for evaluating the bq25887, an I2C controlled, 2s battery NVDC charger in the QFN package. Charging a 2-cell, 8.4V battery from a legacy 5V USB port requires a boost charger. The bq25887 is a highly integrated 2A boosting, 1.5MHz switch-mode battery charge management with cell balancing for 2s Li-ion and Li-polymer battery. The I2C serial interface with charging and cell balancing settings makes the device a truly flexible solution. OTG buck operation enables the input port to supply power from the battery.

The Texas Instruments bq25887EVM does not include the EV2400 interface board. The EV2400 interface board must be ordered separately to evaluate the evaluation module.

Features

  • Easily evaluate the high-efficiency 2A, 1.5MHz integrated field-effect-transistor (FET), switch-mode
  • Onboard USB input adapter for connecting to USB source and communication using the PSEL function to set default input current limit
  • Cell balancing feature to safely charge two discrete cells in a series
  • Onboard test points, sense resistors, and jumpers facilitate the measurement of high-efficiency and high-accuracy voltage and current regulation
