Texas Instruments UCC28782EVM-030 Evaluation Module

Texas Instruments UCC28782EVM-030 Evaluation Module is configured to evaluate the operation of the UCC28782 active-clamp flyback controller. The UCC28782 implements high efficiency and high density for a 65W USB Type-C™ power delivery (PD) off-line adapter utilizing the UCC28782. The input supports a universal 90Vac to 264Vac, while the single output can be set to 5V, 9V, and 15V. These settings are all at 3A max and 20V at 3.25A max, which can be adjusted with the USB PD interface controller.

The TI UCC28782EVM-030 evaluation module supplies a high-frequency operation of 250kHz nominal, allowing a small solution size while the multi-mode operation maintains high efficiency. The LMG2610 integrates high-side and low-side FETs, gate drivers, and high-side level shifters and delivers lossless current sense emulation. Furthermore, synchronous rectification is used on the output to increase efficiency.

Features

  • Universal AC input of 90Vac to 264Vac with USB Type-C PD 3.0 compliant output up to 65W (5V/3A, 9V/3A, 15V /3A, 20V/3.25A)
  • Efficiency and standby power consumption exceed regulatory requirements CoC Tier 2 and DoE Level VI
  • Power density of 30W/in3 with an efficiency of 93% at 90VAC full load
  • Frequency dithering, x-capacitor discharge simplifies compliance with EMI requirements EN 55022
  • Uses GaN MOSFETs to increase efficiency

Applications

  • USB-C PD Power adapters
  • USB-C PPS Power adapters
  • AC-to-DC or DC-to-DC auxiliary power supplies
  • High-density AC-to-DC converters/adapters for notebook computers, tablet computers, TV, and set-top box
