Vishay Semiconductors VCNL4200 Proximity & Ambient Light Sensor

Vishay Semiconductors VCNL4200 Proximity and Ambient Light Sensor combine a 940nm infrared emitter (IRED), ambient light sensor (ALS), and a long distance (up to 1.5m) high sensitivity proximity sensor (PS) in a single package. Using a CMOS process, the VCNL4200 device implements photodiodes, amplifiers, and analog-digital converting circuits into a single chip. Superior sensing capabilities with selections to fulfill most applications are available through the 16-bit high-resolution ALS. The ALS and PS functions are operated through the simple command format of an I2C interface protocol. 

Vishay Semiconductors VCNL4200 Proximity and Ambient Light Sensor offers individual programmable high and low threshold interrupt options to save power. The persistence feature prevents false judgment of proximity sensing due to ambient light noise. The Filtron™ technology delivers an ambient light spectral sensitivity response closest to that of a human eye. Applications include lavatory appliance proximity detection, collision detection in robots and toys, lot/garage parking space availability, and more.
